On April 27, 2019 Giraffe in collaboration with Afla Sackey & Afrik Bawantu, put together a spectular night of Afrojazz and Afrobeat! The show took place at Copeland Park and saw a great turnout in attendance and loads of fun and excitement!
Ghanaian master percussionist Afla Sackey led his 8-piece handpicked funk orchestra, Afrik Bawantu, in a rhythm-driven, dance-inducing fusion to some of the best Afro-Funk tunes to light up Copeland Park & Bussey Building Unit 8 dancefloor. Afrik Bawantu blends vibrant African percussions to a funky and talented horn section. This powerful Afro-Funk sound has been taking crowds around Europe to a whole other musical level.
Afrik Bawantu released their EP ‘Noko Hewon’ in February 2013 to huge critical acclaim, and have since been nominated in the World Music Network’s April charts.
In 2014 their highly anticipated debut album ‘Life On The Street” shook up the new music scene due to gifted musicians and the unique and original style of Afla Sackey's compositions.
